What Is A Soil Moisture Sensor?

Soil Moisture Sensor

Soil moisture describes the moisture content of the soil. The Davis Instruments sensor detects pressure on a scale of 0 (completely wet) to 200 (completely dry). Other soil moisture sensors measure volumetric water content on a scale ranging from 0 (completely dry) to 100 percent (completely wet) (VWC). They are used to help manage agricultural watering efficiency. The Davis soil moisture sensor measures the vacuum created by a lack of moisture in the soil. Other soil moisture sensors use reflected microwave radiation to calculate the moisture content of the soil.
